Abstract
Planning to publish soon? Do you know your intellectual property rights? Do you know that most scholarly journals will ask you to give up those rights in perpetuity? Open Access publishers let you retain rights over your work, and give you the ability to share your work as broadly as you want, with whomever you want. This session will focus on why academic authors should retain copyright on their works, and how this can be accomplished in practice. Associate University Librarian, Lisa Goddard, will outline some common Open Access strategies for authors who wish to disseminate their research as widely as possible in the digital environment. Find out more about Open Access, and be part of a global movement that is transforming the way that scholars share information.
