Organometallic compounds with metal-metal bonds

Abstract

The compounds (π-C₅H₅)Fe(CO)₂SnCl₃, (π-C₅H₅)Fe(CO)₂SnBr₃, [(π-C₅H₅)Fe(CO)₂]₂SnCl₂, [(π-C₅H₅)NiCo)]SnCl₂, and the novel compounds (π-C₅H₅)Ni(CO)SnCl₃, (π-C₅H₅)Ni(CO)SnBr₃, [(π-C₅H₅)Ni(CO)]₂SnBr₂, (π-C₅H₅)Ni(CO)SnCl₂(CO)₂Fe(π-C₅H₅), (π-C₅H₅)Ni(CO)SnBr₂(CO)₂Fe(π-C₅H₅) were prepared. The nickel-contaiing compounds were characterised by infrared, ¹H NMR, electronic and mass spectra and samples were sent for microanalysis. -- The physical parameters of the compounds are compared and the effect of varying the substituents at the tin atom on these parameters is discussed. The electron donor properties of the groups (π-C₅H₅)Fe(CO)₂ and (π-C₅H₅)Ni(CO) are compared.
