Simulation results of a 3-b flash analog-to-digital converter are used to determine the capabilities and limitations of three mixed analog-digital simulators. Two analyses are performed in order to establish benchmarks for the simulators: (1) a transient analysis of a slowly ramped input; and (2) a transient analysis of a step input. The speed and accuracy of the simulations are discussed, and their dependence on circuit complexity and modeling level is examined.
